On August 23rd, the buildup began. First year students, fresh to campus, came out to learn more about what their future will hold at events held by colleges across UT at UT’s annual Gone to Texas celebration.

Students line up at the Center for Global Business table to hear about how they can add global readiness to their time at UT.

McCombs students got started at Gone to Business, and their energy was inspiring. More than 1,200 students started their time at McCombs by connecting with each other and the groups who will support them along the way. Among them were hundreds of curious students who stopped by the Center for Global Business table to learn about options for studying international business, and to connect with advisors to talk about what they want their time at UT to include.

Students gather at the Tower to kick off their official UT careers.

The following evening, students gathered on the Main Mall for an official welcome to campus from university president Jay Hartzell. On the eve of in-person classes beginning again, emotions ran high as students celebrated both overcoming many challenges over the past year, but also the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

Welcome to the Classes of 2024 and 2025. We could not be happier to see you!
