The Class of 2022 has experienced one of the most unique academic journeys in a generation. When they arrived on the 40 Acres in the Fall of 2018 they had no idea that — while they would start and finish their coursework on in person— nearly 2 years of their study would be in a new, different, digital environment.

Andre Williams, IB Major and Ambassador, carries the banner for International Business majors at this year’s commencement ceremony.

Just as many were wrapping up core classes and declaring majors, during the spring of their sophomore year their studies were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Their entire junior year was spent in study online, with plans to travel and work disrupted beyond recognition. At the start of their senior year they were able to return to campus only to find it much changed, and their future plans still in flux.

Throughout all this, the Class of 2022 has maintained a remarkably positive attitude, adjusting to change and upheaval time and time again and keeping their eyes on their dreams for the future. And as they move onto what comes next, they will carry their strength and resilience with them.

Congratulations, Class of 2022! We can’t wait to see you change the world and carry on McCombs’ 100- year legacy of excellence in business!
