Global Perspectives: Sovan Hory’s London Journey
Sovan Hory, an International Business major, embarked on a life-changing journey to London, driven by his passion for global perspectives and a commitment to expanding his horizons. Sovan’s experiential learning was facilitated by a CGB Global Change Maker scholarship which gave him a chance to experience a new culture in one of the world’s premier business hubs.
His internship at a mid-sized firm in London’s Financial District provided his first substantial professional exposure. The experience was so enriching that he returned to intern at the company over the summer, further cementing his international career aspirations.
During his study abroad, Sovan enrolled in courses in global management, media studies, UK politics, and urban design. This diverse coursework enhanced his understanding of global business operations, while his internship offered a fresh perspective, as he found the British business environment more reserved and risk-averse than the US.
“The study abroad and internship in London challenged my assumptions and opened my mind to new possibilities,” Sovan reflects. “It was more than just education — it was a complete transformation of my worldview and career aspirations.” This experience not only became the cornerstone of his undergraduate education, he says but also crystallized his vision of building an international career.
