International Business Minors Are On the Rise
In the fall of 2020, the McCombs School of Business introduced new minors in international business and global management, allowing students to gain global business skills while on the 40 acres. Since that time, enrollment in these two minors has grown rapidly, and nearly 200 students are adding global business to their studies.
Designed for McCombs students, the International Business minor adds an global dimension to foundational business skills with coursework in topics ranging from transfer pricing and international finance to global marketing and intercultural management. By helping business students appreciate how standard practices can change as those practices cross borders, the IB minor prepares McCombs graduates to succeed in a world in which business has no borders.
The Global Management minor, designed for business and non-business students alike, allows student to leverage a study abroad or international internship into a broader understanding of cultural analysis. Students complete this international experience in addition to coursework in international relations and operations management, and with a capstone course they use their first-hand experience living internationally to learn how to assess — and adjust — to different cultures and wherever their post-graduation road takes them.
