International Education Week at UT
International Education Week (IEW) is taking place November 18–22, 2019, across the Forty Acres. A joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, the week provides opportunities to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide while promoting programs that prepare Americans for a global environment.
With events across campus all week, there is something for everyone. A full calendar is available here, but we’ve selected a five highlights to get you started!
Teaching English as a Foreign Language Career Panel
Nov. 20, 4 to 5 p.m.
Texas Union, Asian Culture Room (4.224)
A panel of UT faculty and staff sharing their valuable experiences of teaching abroad and/or being involved with programs such as the Cambridge English Language Teaching Certificate (CELTA) and the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET). UT students interested in teaching or learning more about English as a Foreign Language (EFL) overseas are welcome to attend and meet the panel.

The International Internship Program offers a guaranteed full-time summer internship abroad with an English-speaking supervisor, customized to your skills and professional goals. This program is open to all majors in all locations. Funding is available!
Whether you’ve studied abroad or never been abroad, interning abroad offers a new way to learn about your field and grow your resume. Adventurous, goal-oriented students who are ready to take initiative and be flexible to new work cultures are encouraged to apply!
Human Rights on Multilateral Settings

Join LBJ graduate students as they host established diplomats for a panel discussion on human rights. The panel discussion includes Mr. Alexandre Stutzmann, the Senior Adviser at the Office of the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations, and H.E. Silvio Gonzato, the Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nation. The discussion will be led by Dr. Lorinc Redei, the LBJ School of Public Affairs faculty member, and will be followed by a Q&A session with the students. Register for this FREE event here!
Workshop: Learning Across Cultures

How can studying in another country turn you into a lifelong learner?
Studying in another country provides a unique environment to learn well and deeply: about yourself, about others, about the world and how you interact in it. This workshop is for students going abroad or current international students who want to grow deeper in their capacity to mindfully engage across cultural difference, and develop habits of awareness and reflection that will maximize their experience abroad. International Trivia Night with PALS & Planet Longhorn

Dobie Twenty21
UT PALS, a student organization sponsored by Texas Global, in partnership with Planet Longhorn, one of the largest international student orgs on campus, will cap off International Education Week with a fun trivia night!
Both student organizations will bring together their international and domestic members in order to celebrate International Education Week. Trivia Night will be hosted on the rooftop patio of Dobie Twenty21. This is a student run event created to promote international education and camaraderie among UT international and domestic students, so bring your friends and close out your week in light competition in pop culture, geographic, and historic trivia!
