2 min readFeb 14, 2025

As a valued member of our Board of Advisors, Gretel Perera exemplifies the impact of international business education in shaping transformative careers. With more than two decades of experience in global communications, her journey from Venezuela to becoming a leader in the PR industry underscores the importance of cross-cultural expertise in today’s interconnected business world.

Gretel Perera, CGB Board Member and Director of PR for Expedia Group

Currently serving as the Director of PR for Expedia at Expedia Group, Perera leads consumer communications strategies across key global markets for Expedia, including the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Mexico. Her career spans seven countries and includes leadership roles at tech companies such as Dell, Evernote, and Roku, where she played a pivotal role in driving brand success across diverse international landscapes.

“Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand how crucial a global mindset is in today’s business environment,” says Perera. “Working across markets has reinforced the importance of cultural nuance in global communications. A successful PR strategy in the U.S. doesn’t necessarily translate to France — you must listen to local experts and adapt accordingly to local preferences.”

Her professional journey began with a Journalism degree from the University of Texas, which paved the way for transformative opportunities, including the opportunity to live in Brazil to lead Dell’s PR for Latin America. Today, as a CGB Board member, Perera is committed to mentoring students, helping them explore opportunities in global business, and sharing her extensive experience in brand launches and market adaptations.

At CGB, we’re fortunate to have the leadership and expertise of board members like Gretel Perera. Their guidance and dedication to fostering global business education are helping us empower the next generation of leaders.
