The Texas McCombs Center for Global Business continues to grow! Spring 2023 is no exception. From another successful Global Readiness Week to the inaugural Alumni Celebration Dinner and the Global Change Maker Scholarship, CGB is flying high with no signs of slowing down. Below are a few highlights from the spring semester of 2023.
On April 6, 2023, CGB held its first-ever Alumni Celebration and Appreciation Dinner. Special guests included CGB Advisory Board members, distinguished alumni and current students.
A CGB Signature Event, Global Readiness Week, or GRW, kicked off on March 2023. The event was a rousing success, and includes three days of activities: a keynote speech featuring Chairman & CEO of Pinnacle Group and CGB Board member Nina Vaca, an International Food Extravaganza, featuring cuisine from all over the world brought in by student organizations, and Trivia Night.
CGB announced the addition of two amazing new members to the Advisory Board, Marissa Vidaurri and Rogelio Cueva Barrera. Marissa is currently the Vice President of Investor Relations at National Instruments, headquartered here in Austin, and Rogelio is highly regarded as a businessperson and entrepreneur in Monterrey, Mexico.
IB students travel abroad this summer
CGB awarded its first round of Global Change Maker Scholarships to students from across The University of Texas at Austin. Designed to support the exploration of global business through life-changing international experiences, these scholarships are funded by the Brimble Global Impact Initiative and are open to all UT undergraduate students.
CGB continued its speaker series — Global Shift Dialogues and Global Frontiers — with featured UT alumni and industry leaders Christophe Van Riet, Gretel Perera and Ana Villegas. They shared insights into international business and how their global journeys made them who they are today. Check out the CGB YouTube page to watch these videos and more.
All of the above content was taken from the brand new Momentum newsletter CGB sent out in May.
